Every year Downend Round Table partner with a charity for the annual Fireworks display. This year we are pleased to announce we will be working with Network Counselling and Training.
Based in Elm Park, Filton, Network Counselling offers affordable counselling in a welcoming, safe and confidential space where people can be listened to, accepted and understood. Counselling can be a lifeline, as a client said, “The sessions really helped me through the worst months of my life. I can’t thank my counsellor enough.” Network has been offering affordable counselling to all regardless of background or ability to pay for over 30 years. As a charity it relies upon the generous support of Trusts, individuals and community events like the Downend Round Table Fireworks to continue to provide our services. Network will join us at Fireworks to talk about the work they do, and will receive a donation from the money raised. For more information on Network, see their website.
The charities were chosen from a long list of suggestions made by the public, and we’re very grateful for everyone who took the time to get in touch. In particular, we’d like to thank Headway Bristol and National Autistic Society South Gloucestershire Branch for meeting us earlier this year to talk about their work. In return, we made donations to each charity of £1,000. Don’t forget that Downend Round Table makes donations throughout the year, and works with local groups on our events such as Downend Round Table Fireworks and Downend Round Table Santa Sleigh. This year the display will take place on Friday 1st November, as usual there will be two displays, a huge bonfire, funfair rides, food, drink and entertainment. Tickets will be on sale from September. As well as organising the annual Fireworks display, Downend Round Table is a social organisation for men aged 18-45.
