The impact of ANY fire can be devastating. The highest degree of management control is needed to ensure that all fire protection arrangements are effective, and staff actions in an emergency are clearly understood and implemented.

Acorn Health and Safety Ltd Fire Safety training courses are relevant to all employers who must provide adequate fire safety training for employees. The type and extent of training should be based on the nature of an employers’ business, the type of premises and its’ use, and the expected occupancy of the building.

We have also successfully adapted our Fire Marshal and Fire Warden course so this can be delivered Live streamed and is aimed at staff members who will be taking on the role of fire marshal within an organisation.

Why attend a Fire Safety Course? Fire kills. Fact. In 2018-19 fire and rescue services attended 182,491 fires  in England; 48% without smoke alarms and these fires killed 285 people and injured 6,271.

Each year, the costs as a consequence of fire, including property damage, human casualties and lost business, are estimated at over £9 billion. The costs of a serious fire can be high; 1 in 7 businesses cease to trade following a significant fire.

We take the time to gain an understanding of your fire safety requirements and practices in your organisation to ensure we provide meaningful and relevant fire safety training.

Our Fire Training courses will assist an organisation’s responsible person to carry out their duties and who must, where necessary:

  • Take measures for fire-fighting in their premises, adapted to the nature of the activities carried out there and the size of the undertaking and of the premises concerned;
  • Nominate competent persons (Fire Marshals) to implement those measures and ensure that the number of such persons, their training and the equipment available to them is adequate, taking into account the size of (and the specific hazards involved in) the premises concerned, and;
  • Arrange any necessary contacts with external emergency services, particularly as regards to fire-fighting, rescue work, first-aid and emergency medical care.

Our courses can cater for employees who require Fire Awareness training, or who have the need for Fire Marshal training, and can include the practical use of fire extinguishers and the demonstration of the use of Fire Extinguishers and Fire blankets in a ‘live fire’ situation through our environmentally friendly propane gas training rig to simulate a variety of different fire types.

Courses will provide knowledge of legal requirements, risk assessments and hazards associated with fire, together with the causes and chemistry of fire and evacuation requirements. Delegates will have the opportunity to discuss issues specific to their workplace throughout the course they are attending.
