Training Focus: Fire Safety Training in Bristol by Acorn Health & Safety

Acorn Health and Safety Fire Safety training is relevant to all employers who must provide adequate fire safety training for employees. The type and extent of training should be based on the nature of an employers’ business, the type of premises and its’ use and the expected occupancy of the building. This can be supported by the practical use of our environmentally friendly propane gas training rig to simulate a variety of different fire types. We will tailor our courses to include detail relevant to delegate’s places of work.

Our Fire Training courses will assist an organisation’s ‘responsible person’ to carry out their duties and who must, where necessary:

* Take measures for fire-fighting in their premises, adapted to the nature of the activities carried on there and the size of the undertaking and of the premises concerned;
* Nominate competent persons to implement those measures and ensure that the number of such persons, their training and the equipment available to them is adequate, taking into account the size of, and the specific hazards involved in, the premises concerned, and;
* Arrange any necessary contacts with external emergency services, particularly as regards fire-fighting, rescue work, first-aid and emergency medical care.

Our courses can cater for employees who require fire awareness training, or who have the need for fire marshal training, and can include the practical use of fire extinguishers and the demonstration of the use of fire blankets in a ‘live fire’ situation. This is not a mandatory aspect of the training but gives delegates first-hand experience in putting out live fires. We provide delegates with a variety of printed course materials including workbooks and handouts and on completion of learning, delegates will receive an appropriate certification.

Courses will provide knowledge of legal requirements, risk assessment and hazards associated with fire, together with the causes and chemistry of fire and evacuation requirements. Delegates will have the opportunity to discuss issues specific to their workplace throughout the course they are attending.
