“I just wanted to send a quick thank you to the trainer who ran the course First Aid for Infants and children that I attended. I found this course very useful and I came away hoping that I would be confident to use first aid in an emergency. Little did I know that my first casualty would be only a couple of days later when we were away on school camp and we got woken in the middle of the night by a fire alarm? During the confusion, one of the teachers fell badly down the stairs (she happened to be our official first aider!) I amazed myself by taking charge of the situation, I remembered everything from the course, I did the necessary first aid and then got her to A&E. If I hadn’t have attended the course then the injured teacher may have suffered a lot more”
Where did Acorn start?
Danny and Sarah founded Acorn Health & Safety in 1999, following successful careers in the NHS. Danny having worked as a Training and Development Officer and Sarah as a Registered Nurse with a specialist interest in critical care at North Bristol NHS Trust.
Danny’s passion for health and safety training in subjects including first aid, manual handling, fire safety and general safety set the basis of the business. Together with Sarah’s clinical skills and expertise Acorn’s training and consultancy services grew to meet the needs of businesses across many specialist areas.
Danny and Sarah continued recruiting health and safety consultants and trainers with specialist knowledge in construction, building trades and hospitality, broadening our offering, services and expertise. Please see all our complete list of industry sectors for more information.
Today Acorn Health & Safety provides over 60 courses in first aid, fire safety, food safety, manual handling and health and safety as well as a number of specialist courses for the construction and healthcare sectors. We train over 18000 people a year, from over 350 businesses throughout Bristol, the South West and all over the UK.

We provide open training courses from our training centre in Warmley conveniently situated between Bristol and Bath with good access to the M4 / 5. Alternatively, all of our course can be delivered in house at your premises or other suitable location.

If they can’t they’ll put you through to a health and safety consultant of find out the answer and get back to you as soon as they are able.
We’ll be responsive to enquiries received and always respond to e-mail and phone calls in a timely manner. We take the time to listen and strive always to get it right, if we don’t we’ll apologise and do what’s necessary to put things right.
