Following a successful career with the NHS as a Training & Development Officer training staff across all levels in topics such as first aid, manual handling, fire and general safety, Danny founded Acorn Health & Safety in 2000 to establish a broad range of training and consultancy services to public and private sector businesses.

A founding Director of Acorn Health & Safety, Sarah has 12 years critical care nursing experience and has been a manual handling trainer/advisor for 9 years. She is involved in the delivery of clinical skills and manual handling training and provides manual handling advice.

Trudi became Office Manager at Acorn in April 2010 and enjoys various aspects of the job on a day to day basis. She brings with her 23 years’ experience of working for a transport logistics company with varied roles covering finance, transport operations, quality control, training and business development.

Health & Safety Consultant
Rogers working life has been spent in the Security and Fire protection industry, through engineering, technical roles, and into Management, eventually moving into Environmental Health and Safety Management in 2007. Following redundancy after 36 years of service, he joined Acorn as a Health and Safety consultant in 2013.

Ayshea Ware – RGN
Ayshea has been in nursing for over 20 years specialising in acute medicine and renal/transplant. For the last 12 years she has been working as a manual handling adviser and has a diploma in back care management and the NEBOSH certificate for health and safety.
“I love seeing the ‘lightbulb’ moment when people understand why the training/advice is important and how by following it they can keep themselves and patients safe.”
Martin has been training life guards in the leisure industry for over 20 years, and in addition over the last 14 years he has been involved in apprenticeship training within the leisure sector, this included training gym instructors and personal trainers on how to lift correctly and teach others to do the same. He also had the role of internal quality assurance and worked with City and Guilds as an external quality assurer. In a voluntary capacity he is a mentor to new trainers within the RLSS.
Martin joined Acorn in August 2018 as a first aid and manual handling trainer, he has also taken on the role of overseeing the update of course presentations and carrying out trainer observations.

Jo joined Acorn in July 2019 but qualified as a first aider in 2000 and spent 7 years working in the retail sector in various roles including a trainer in food safety & customer service. She commenced her first aid training career in 2008. After 2 years of commercial training, Jo moved to first aid training in the community working predominantly with vulnerable people and children, and later as an emergency response officer where she managed and trained volunteers to respond to emergencies.

Sarah qualified as a first aider in 1988 and has practical experience in administering first aid at large gatherings and on building sites! She has been involved in training since 1999 and specialised in first aid training since 2006.

Nigel has previously held the roles of; Food Production Manager at Southmead Hospital, Assistant College Lecturer in Food Safety and an instructor in First Aid and related subjects. After working for other training organisations, he joined Acorn Safety in 2007 as our Training Manager. In 2013, having completed 18 months of study, he was awarded a Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety practice when he then joined our Consultancy team. He has now returned back to his training roots as one of our most experienced trainers.

Tracey joined Acorn in 2016 and brings a wealth of experience in training administration from the diving and leisure industry.

Danielle joined Acorn in June 2019 and brings 1st class customer service from her vast experience in customer facing roles as well as Marketing and Business Development knowledge.
Danielle has worked in many different industries, from the veterinary world to semiconductor manufacturing, and thrives off providing a 5* customer service experience. She also has great experience in Marketing, Business Development and Graphic Design. She has a keen interest in Health and Safety and plans on furthering her career in this sector.

Amy joined Acorn in April 2017 and brings a wealth of experience in Sales and customer service from the Hotel industry
