Emergency Handling – MH06
Our emergency handling course is aimed at staff whose main role is handling clients in the event of a fall or similar event, wherever it might occur. We are pleased to confirm that this course is aligned to The Core Skills Training Framework (CSTF)
Foundation Level Manual Handling and First Aid at Work:
“We received the above training over two weeks which was much appreciated. Although we have filled in individual feedback forms on the day, I thought I would give some positive feedback with regards to the course itself and both trainers Matt & Ayshea.
The first aid course delivered by Matt was extremely enjoyable. Whilst going through the mandatory information for the course, Matt was able to adapt some areas of the course to suit our service needs which was great.
Matt’s delivery was excellent and we were laughing whilst learning.
The Manual Handling course delivered by Ayshea was informative, hands-on and very thorough.
Ayshea came across very knowledgeable & confident about this area and delivered the course at exactly the right pace.
Overall feedback from all that attended was positive.
I have recommended Acorn to our Training Manager for further courses throughout GCH”
Why do our customers choose us?
Musculoskeletal injury continues to account for significant sickness absence amongst the UK workforce. Our manual handling training team is led by Sarah, a registered nurse and advanced moving and handling practitioner.
In most cases, falling and similar handling emergencies are foreseeable and therefore risk assessments should be in place, staff members trained in appropriate techniques and suitable equipment provided.
Our courses are delivered by knowledgeable trainers all of whom hold adult teaching qualifications supported by a professional qualification and considerable, hands on practical experience, this is reflected in our grounded, pragmatic approach.
Teaching 18,000 delegates a year, Acorn Health & Safety offer training to individuals, groups and entire staff teams. We are committed to providing excellent training delivered in a relaxed, yet informative style.
How do we approach emergency handling?
Our course programme employs a variety of teaching techniques to meet the needs of individual delegates and includes the following:
- Collapsing in chairs
- Collapsing on to the floor
- Getting clients out of small spaces i.e. the bathroom using a slide sheet
- The falling patient
- Hoisting - from floor
- Cardiac arrests in small spaces
Our tailored course programmes are particularly suited to organisations with specific learning outcomes and developed to meet the requirements of the care certificate.
The CSTF allows employers to recognise training to a standard, trust that information and reduce duplication of training. It also gives confidence that training standards have been met and standardises the interpretation of statutory/mandatory or clinical/care training.
The Framework can be used by any healthcare employer in the UK including NHS, independent healthcare providers, bank staff and agency organisations, and educational organisations and ensures the educational relevance of the training and improves the quality and consistency of training provision.
Owing to the practical nature of this course a basic level of general fitness is required. Delegates must be physically able to carry out the procedures detailed in the course outline. Should you have any questions relating to the accessibility of this course please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
This course is of 3 hours (half day) duration.
