Food Safety Management Systems

All food businesses are required to have a food safety management system in place in order to ensure safe practices are followed and the food they produce is safe to eat. As part of their routine inspections, a Local Authority Enforcement Officer will check that the business has an appropriate HACCP based food safety management system in place.

Why do our customers choose us?

Food Safety Training CoursesWe recognise food safety needs to compliment your ability to produce quality food your customer desires.  A Food Safety Management System is a systematic approach to controlling food safety hazards and should follow the principles of ‘Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points’ (HACCP).

Acorn Health and Safety is a leading provider of health and safety training and consultancy in the South West.  Our trainers and consultants come from a wide variety of professional backgrounds and have considerable, hands on practical experience which is reflected in our grounded, pragmatic approach.

Customers come from an equally diverse range of organisations and businesses but choose Acorn because we’ll keep you on the right side of the law, whilst recognising that health and safety needs to compliment your day to day business activities.

How do we support customers with documenting a food safety management system?

Our food safety consultant will provide advice and guidance on the documentation required to demonstrate due diligence with regard to food safety and how to implement good practice within your operation.

For smaller businesses, where ‘Safer Food, Better Business’ would be a more appropriate Food Safety Management System to use, help and advice will be given on how to use the pack provided by the Food Standards Agency (FSA).

What should you expect from Acorn Health & Safety?

After meeting to discuss your business, a Food Safety Management System Policy document will be prepared outlining your commitment to food safety and, where required, a set of suitable forms will be provided in order to record the measures you take, these might include:

  • Supplier questionnaire
  • Food delivery recording form
  • Fridge / freezer temperature recording forms
  • Cooking temperature recording form
  • Cleaning schedules

Following any piece of consultancy work we are available by phone or on e-mail, so you can contact us easily, if you need our assistance or further advice.

Not every course can be 'off the shelf'.
