Working with Asbestos
Employers must not carry out any work in demolition, maintenance, or any other work which exposes, or is liable to expose, employees or others to asbestos.
“I just wanted to let you know that 10 of our volunteers attended first aid training with Matt on Friday 19th May 2017 and we really enjoyed it! Matt is a very entertaining trainer who has the ability to make it fun yet still deliver the important content! We all came away feeling confident with our new skills! A huge thank you for accommodating our needs as an organisation, we really appreciate it, and will definitely be looking into other courses. Acorn deliver.”
Why do our customers choose us?
Our consultants specialising in construction, building management and trades sectors are qualified, knowledgeable professional staff who regularly advise businesses of the steps they should take regarding asbestos at all stages of a project.
Initially we advise all customers working in non-domestic premises (and for common areas of domestic premises) to contact the duty holder to obtain an assessment of asbestos risk for the premises; this is commonly known as an ‘asbestos register’.
Should this information not be available our consultants will carry out a risk assessment that will identify where asbestos is located within a building, what type it is, and in what condition creating an asbestos register.
We assist you through an assessment of risk from asbestos which may be made by referring to this site specific document, providing it is current, of suitable and sufficient quality, and that asbestos is being managed safely by the duty holder for the premises. If there is any doubt regarding the presence of asbestos, then legislation has specific requirements in place.

We offer impartial professional advice and support, to ensure that your risk assessments, safe systems of working, method statements and management procedures are effective.
We can provide qualified guidance, in person, to enable you to interpret asbestos survey and register documents and to understand how to manage work safely and legally where asbestos is present.
Where employees are required to wear respiratory protective equipment (RPE) during the course of their work we can provide face fit testing for individual staff members and groups
