Mental Health First Aid Refresher Course – WB03

Our Mental Health First Aid Refresher training is to empower Mental Health First Aiders (MHFAiders®) to maintain their skills with regular Refresher training which will renew their skills, update their knowledge of mental health supports and gives them the chance to practice applying the Mental Health First Aid action plan. *PLEASE NOTE* Only MHFAiders that completed the 2-day MHFA programme are eligible to attend the Refresher programme after 3 years of completing the MHFAider programme.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) strongly advise employers to undertake regular refresher training, something we support, to ensure those trained maintain their skills and are updated on any changes in practice.

“I found all of this course training helpful (Bespoke Manual Handling for occupational therapists). It has made me more aware of needing to know what equipment is available and I will teach/demonstrate to others. 10/10″

Why do our customers choose us?

Whether you choose a single place on our open course or training for an entire staff team, this half day refresher course provides Mental Health First Aiders with essential mental health knowledge.

This course will enablie your MHFAiders® to refresh their skills, the same way your physical first aiders do, and is a great way to demonstrate your organisation’s commitment to treating mental health and physical health equally. We believe that mental health should be treated equally to physical health – and just like physical first aid, Mental Health First Aid training should be kept up to-date. We recommend MHFA Refresher training every three years.

Investing in the course will keep your MHFAiders® motivated, empowered and confident to carrying out their roles, and give you the peace of mind that they can perform their duties effectively.

Our courses are delivered by knowledgeable and enthusiastic trainers all of whom hold adult teaching qualifications supported by professional qualifications.

They have gained their hands-on first aid experience from a variety of different backgrounds over many years including nursing, armed forces, emergency services, hospitality, Voluntary Aid Societies, as well as other industry sectors before becoming qualified instructors.

The more we know and understand, the more we are able to prevent, manage and treat ill health.

How do we approach mental health first aid training?

There are three levels of intervention where organisations could support the health and well-being of their employees – by preventing, managing and treating issues. The first step towards overcoming obstacles is to increase our knowledge, awareness and self-awareness. The more we know, the more we understand, and the more we understand the easier it becomes to do something about challenges that come our way.

We cannot ignore mental health when we consider Health and Safety strategies in the workplace.

Mental health is an integral element of our overall health and it should be accepted and acknowledged so that we can learn how to prevent, manage and treat it pretty much in the same way we do with physical health. Prioritising your mental health is more important now than ever before.  The more you know and understand mental health, yourself and how to maintain resilience and balance, the stronger you will be during these uncertain times.

Mental Health Refresher training is a MHFA England accredited programme designed to raise awareness and effectively support your own and the mental health of others.

This course can be delivered either face to face or via online video conferencing. Learning takes place through a mix of presentations, group discussions and workshop activities.
