Why do our customers choose us?
Throughout the Coronavirus pandemic, we have continued to work with a wide variety of organisations and businesses, notably manufacturing organisations, the construction industry, trade’s businesses, retail, the NHS and social care sector.
We have advised businesses on the steps they should be taking to comply with their legal duties, as well as regularly changing and sometimes contradictory guidance.
We’ve not stopped working and since March we have supported businesses in many ways including:
- Developing COVID-19 screening checklists
- Advice on PPE
- The provision of face fit testing
- Specific advice for those working in COVID-19 positive environments
- Advice on home working including mental health, DSE and vulnerable staff
- Researched and implemented a variety of social distancing controls
- COVID-19 risk assessments
- Managing staff teams whether they be anxious or complacent
We are now offering COVID-19 audits, an independent assessment of the steps your business need to take and to test the effectiveness of the measure’s employers have put in place to comply with the law and keep everyone safe.
In addition, we will as ask questions on a number of other areas of health and safety that might have been affected by the pandemic. This includes legionella management, first aid and fire marshal provision, incident reporting and fire risk assessment.
This information is based on our experiences, that which the law requires employers to do, publications from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), Government, industry guidance and similar.
Acorn Health & Safety is a leading provider of health and safety consultancy in the South West. Our consultants come from a wide variety of professional backgrounds and have considerable, hands on practical experience, which is reflected in our grounded, pragmatic approach.
How do we undertake Covid-19 audits?
Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus. When returning to work, you must be aware of the primary hazards from exposure to the Coronavirus (that causes the Covid-19 illness) and ensure control measures are in place to prevent the transmission of infection and illness within the workplace.
We appreciate that this is an uncertain and anxious time for many of our customers and this audit will provide valuable feedback for those in which good practice and compliance has been observed, as well as areas where further improvement(s) might be made.
Audits are undertaken using a specific COVID-19 template, that’s regularly updated to reflect changes in guidance and practice and our experiences over the last four months.
In most cases, an audit is divided into three separate parts:
• A review of physical documentation
• Conversations with staff
• A review of the workplace or equipment
From the audit, you should share your findings with employees and others who might require this information and provide instruction and training where required.
Some parts may involve all or part of an organisations health and safety management system.
We will provide a copy of our audit checklist which contains information on the types of documents we would require access to whether held electronically or in hard copy.
We will provide you with a final copy of your audit. This contains an overview of your organisation, a recommended list of actions where non-conformance's or improvements are advised and a more detailed summary of our findings. This document will be provided as a PDF.
